IN PICTURES – Madness! Moris pushes shirt with beer into the face of Besnik Hasi, who “understands frustrations”
What was all that? After KV Mechelen missed the chance to score 1-1, Union goalkeeper Anthony Moris was pelted with cups of beer. Referee Bert Put stopped the match and when Moris walked towards the dressing room, the goalkeeper pushed his shirt soaked in beer into Besnik Hasi’s face. After the interruption, Mechelen would still equalize against Union. View the images below.
A tumultuous ending between KV Mechelen and Union? That might even be an understatement.
In added time, Union goalkeeper Anthony Moris had cups of beer thrown at him, after which referee Bert Put stopped the game and sent the players to the changing rooms.
But that wasn’t the end of the matter. When walking to the changing rooms, Moris and Besnik Hasi cross paths, whereupon the goalkeeper pushes his shirt in the Mechelen trainer’s face.
After the match, Besnik Hasi revisited the incident. “I don’t like the fans throwing those cups,” the coach opens. “But I didn’t look for Moris, I went to the referee to get a story about another phase.”
“I understand his frustrations. I was also fierce as a player and I always wanted to win. And if I meet him on the street in Brussels tomorrow, I will have a beer with him, that is no problem. But the referee has to take responsibility, now he just gives us both a yellow card. But I accept that and continue.”
Rob Schoofs also condemns the behavior of the fans
Like his trainer, Captain Rob Schoofs condemned the behavior of the supporters. “That’s really not right, throwing beer is really not done. It is the second week in a row that our fans have shown behavior that is not correct. We have to discuss this together to prevent it from happening again.”
