Drug trafficking: 182 narchomicides recorded in the space of six months: News

The JDD reveals the first figures for 2024 on the state of drug trafficking in . Over the first half of the year, 182 homicides and attempted homicides were recorded.

This Friday, November 1, the JDD revealed the results of the Judicial Police on cases of homicides linked to drug trafficking (or narchomicides). In total, nearly 182 cases were recorded for the first six months of 2024. To this figure is added that of the number of victims, 42.

We will still have to wait a few months before knowing the annual results for 2024. Last year, in 2023, the police recorded 418 narchomicides, a record and an increase of 38% compared to 2022. Furthermore, 319 people were killed in all of the 2023 reckonings.

Younger and younger criminals

Last October, the head of the Central Office for the Fight against Organized Crime warned about the profile of the perpetrators of these homicides. “In recent years we have seen the proliferation of teams of young hitmen who are on average under 25 years old”specifies France Info.

Furthermore, the Minister of the Interior commented to the JDD on the figures for the first half of 2024, confirming that “the 2024 trajectory is more favorable than 2023 […] but if we compare with the first half of the year 2022 or 2021, we note an increase in the number of incidents.”
