The Greens faced Racing Club de Strasbourg this Saturday, November 2. Winner in a crazy Geoffroy-Guichard (2-0), ASSE revives and breathes. Find the reactions on the DAZN microphone at the end of this match.
Two happy scorers for ASSE
Mickaël Nadé (ASSE): The goal? Yes of course, it warms the heart. We are very happy with this performance in front of our audience. We hope to continue like this. It's really a pleasure to score in front of our supporters. It's a goal that comes with a victory, so I'm really happy.
Ibrahim Sissoko (ASSE) : Communion with the Cauldron? Yes, these are moments to take advantage of. We are going through difficult times, so the moments of joy, which bring pride to everyone, we must take advantage of. The goal? From the moment I took the lead, it was over for the defender. Behind, I get a good grip on it and it's a great relief. Coming into a match like that, even if we were leading 1-0… I think the goal delivered us.
When the coach calls on me, it’s to make a difference. We have this good connection with Cafi (Cafaro) who has linked us since last year, we manage to find each other well because he knows my positioning well. Pressure around the team? It is certain that victory reassures us. We were keen to redeem ourselves at home, in front of our audience. We outdid ourselves and it was a good day for us.
The Greens broke away
Olivier Dall'Oglio (Entraîneur de l'ASSE) : There are some interviews more pleasant than others, that's for sure, even more so when you hear all the chants from the supporters. The pressure around the match? We play to win. When we don't win, we're sad but everything moves quickly in football. This evening, we are very satisfied. We saw a solid team, we didn't concede a goal, which is our big guilty pleasure, so I think that will give us confidence. We were disciplined. Strasbourg has the capacity for power and speed, we knew that, but I think that's why we won the match tonight. Particularly in the first half where we were able to resist.
On the second, we struggled completely to score two goals. There was a state of mind that we must keep. Ball releases? Yes for sure, I wanted to see it. Above all, I wanted to see solidity. But it’s true that that’s what we want to see too. Afterwards, we have to be even more precise on certain sequences. We needed to resist in the first half against a team that could suck us in. We knew that in the second half, we would have opportunities to drive home the point. The Derby? I think we're already there. It will be an important match for everyone but we first had to take points tonight. We will have time to talk about it again.
Strasbourg did not find the solution
Félix Lemarechal (Strasbourg) : We dominated in the first half, the start of the second half too I think. They score on a corner before putting the bus down. Behind, it was hard. We didn't lack much apart from efficiency, especially at the end of the first period. They were five behind, in a low block, it was complicated. We're still learning, we'll do better next time.
Ismaël Doukouré (Strasbourg): It's difficult to come and speak this evening. We controlled the match but we lost it on two small details. There were still some good things to remember. We will work even harder in training to win the next match. At halftime, the coach told us to keep calm. We worked on the video well and we knew that they were going to be grouped together, that it would be difficult in the axis. It didn't work, we're going to review the match, the actions, to do better.
Our youth? I don't see that as a fault. I think we all learn, even a player at the end of their career. The group is qualitative, the main thing is to work. I have to see the two goals again but I know I am involved. I take responsibility for it and continue to learn. I'll do better next time.
Liam Rosenior (Strasbourg coach): Surprised by the level of Saint-Etienne? Absolutely not. They had good results here. They changed the way they played, with a real good plan put in place by their coach. We weren't clean enough today, we didn't take enough risks. These are lessons for next weekend. They defended very well in front of their box and they managed their transitions well. There are always two teams on the pitch and we have to create more chances. It's never perfect, we have to improve to win matches. Yes, tonight we lost, but we continue to learn.
