in Chiva, the victims live in worry

Chiva, a town located around thirty kilometers from Valencia, is suffering the serious consequences of recent floods. With its 17,000 inhabitants, the city is devastated and solidarity is organized. In front of the municipal theater, volunteers distribute water and food. A group of friends came with their own shovels and buckets to help. In front of the town hall, volunteers receive several instructions, including health instructions. “It’s been going on for several days, we need protection because with the mud there are a lot of bacteria”explains a volunteer.

In a street, emergency services evacuated 22 people poisoned by gas fumes during a pumping operation. Among them, Francisco Romero's cousin, who is waiting for news. Nearly a year's worth of rain fell in just eight hours, completely destroying a business. Clean-up operations are expected to continue for several more days.
