In the very first match of the Crown Jewel PLE card, fans were treated to the two biggest superstars in wrestling. The Bloodline is the first out, and then Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso make their way to the stage. The biggest pop though? Jey Uso. The look on Reigns’ face watching how over Jey Uso is certainly feels like a precursor to an eventual dissolving on the reunion, but when?
Jey Uso and Tama Tonga start things off. The Uso twins reignite their tag magic from before early, with several combination moves that clear the Temu Bloodline out the ring.
Reigns extends his hand to be tagged in, but Jey tags in Jimmy instead, much to Reigns and the crowd’s disgust. That allows the Bloodline to take control and Jacob Fatu to begin his domination. Solo Sikoa takes over and to be honest, he’s been an incredible heel over the last several months. Jey Uso gets back in and retakes control as there’s still no Reigns. Fatu gets the upper hand with a headbutt, Samoan Drop and a Senton with incredible power.
Finally Jey Uso tags in Reigns was Tonga brings Sikoa in the two Tribal Chiefs trade blows in the middle of the ring. Reigns wins the punch exchanges before unleashing three clotheslines. He lcks in for the Superman Punch, stalking his prey but Sikoa caught him in midair, only for Reigns to escape the slam and still land the Superman Punch. Ooooh Ahhh but Sikoa stopped it and lands a Samoan Spike.
But the three count was slow as Jimmy Uso was supposed to break up the pinfall but appeared late.
The action continues with Jey Uso clearing the ring with Superkicks until Fatu stops him with a headbutt. Reigns sees Tonga Loa interfering and tosses him onto the ref, knocking him out. Fatu then goes on a rampage of headbutts and lands a Moonsault that takes out Reigns. Sikoa lands two Samoan Spikes and pins Reigns to a stunned crowd.
The Bloodline places the Ula Fala onto Sikoa who was standing over Reigns body before another scuffle begins. Reigns and Jimmy Uso are wrecked and there’s no sign of Jey Uso to help. As they look to slam Reigns onto the announcer’s table, Jey Uso finally gets involved.
That only leads to him taking the brunt of the punishment as Sikoa is lined up to get the steel chair around the neck when Sami Zayn comes out.
He and Sikoa have a convo in the middle of the ring that’s inaudible to the crowd and the show, but he seems to be imploring Zayn to join their side of the scrap. Zayn moves in for a hug, but he slams Sikoa and it becomes a 4-on-4.
They clear everyone out and take four corners with Sikoa in the middle of the ring alone. Zayn goes for the Haloma kick but Sikoa ducks and he connects with Reigns instead.
That leads to Jimmy Uso confronting Zayn and Jey Uso having to get in the middle of them.
Matchup Grade: 87
We predicted the involvement of Zayn in this match, but it was a good twist with the match continuing. The botched 3-count soured the outcome, but the result is still what was warranted.
What’s Next?
The continuity of the New Bloodline came through as the OG Bloodline certainly had their issues. And the addition of Zayn and things not working out means they can eventually land at Survivor Series as a four-man team but still with a ton of internal turmoil which will allow the storyline to keep going for several months.
