Coach and left-back argued on the side of the field

In addition to dissatisfaction with the refereeing during the 2-2 draw against Grêmio, at Maracanã, in the 32nd round of the Brazilian Championship, Fluminense faces yet another setback. A disagreement between Marcelo and coach Mano Menezes arose in the final minutes of the game, when the team was winning 2-1.

At the time, the coach was preparing to replace Lima with Marcelo in the 45th minute, but, as the coach himself stated, he “heard something he didn’t like”. Because of this, he decided to exchange Marcelo for John Kennedy.

The Trivela portal detailed what happened, indicating that Marcelo’s comment to the coach caused discomfort, ruling out speculation that he had refused to enter at the end of the game. According to the website, a previous disagreement had already occurred.

Although Marcelo did not express his dissatisfaction, he expressed annoyance when asked to enter the field at that late stage of the game. Even reluctantly, Marcelo removed his vest, listened to the instructions and positioned himself on the edge of the field.

The website reported that, when Mano touched the full-back’s shoulder, Marcelo asked the coach “not to touch him” and “not to interact with the fans”. This comment made Mano change the substitution. According to the portal, Marcelo, on the other hand, denies the interpretation and maintains the possibility of expressing his opinion on the matter, if he so decides.
