Concerning signs for Stefanos Tsitsipas as he records 4th straight season with drop in win percentage

World No. 11 Stefanos Tsitsipas has wrapped up his season with a win percentage drop for the fourth consecutive year on tour. The Greek amassed 3,365 points this year, missing out on the ATP Finals for the first time since 2019.

Tsitsipas most recently competed at the Masters, where he reached the quarterfinals. Despite a spirited effort against Alexander Zverev, he was outplayed by the third seed in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.

The 26-year-old has shown great promise in the last few years but still needs to raise his level to achieve greater success on tour. He boasted a win ratio of almost 75% in 2021, but the figure has now dropped down to 66% in 2024.

Since 2021, Tsitsipas has captured six titles on tour, including three at the Masters 1000 level. Interestingly, all three of those titles were earned at the Monte-Carlo Masters, in 2021, 2022, and 2024. The Greek also reached the finals of the Italian Open and the Cincinnati Open in 2022 but was denied the title by Novak Djokovic in Rome and Borna Coric in Cincinnati.

As for the Majors, the former World No. 3 has come agonizingly close to opening his account in the last few years. He reached the finals of the 2021 French Open and the 2023 Australian Open but was again beaten by Novak Djokovic in both.

With an ordinary season under his belt in 2024, Tsitsipas has failed to qualify for the ATP Finals for the first time in six years. He missed the qualification mark by almost 500 points in the ATP Rankings and finished below his near rivals Alex De Minaur, Casper Ruud, and Andrey Rublev in the Race to Turin.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is one of the few players who’ve defeated Jannik Sinner this year. He faced the Italian in the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters and outclassed him in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

Tsitsipas also locked horns with Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the 2024 French Open. He put up a decent performance against the Spaniard but came up short as he was beaten in three sets 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-4.

The Greek recently lost to Alexander Zverev at the Paris Masters, but had defeated him in Monte Carlo earlier this year. Zverev leads their head-to-head record 2-1, having also beaten Tsitsipas at the start of the season in the United Cup.
