With Sauber, McLaren is the only one to have introduced new parts at Interlagos, a week after Mexico. Elements perfectly suited to the challenges of the Brazilian track.
After two Grands Prix without a victory (won by Ferrari), McLaren continues to do everything possible to win Formula 1 titles this year, with the arrival of a new rear wing for the Brazilian Grand Prix.
While the weather remains very uncertain this weekend (which could lead to rethinking fin levels in the event of rain), this new fin aims to offer Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri an additional option in terms of downforce and drag if the weather remains dry.
Because like Spa, Interlagos requires the best possible aerodynamic finesse, that is to say the best ratio between the load produced and the drag induced. According to the team, the new element “increases the overall efficiency of the wing compared to the existing medium load aileron”. In this area, the Red Bull is the best machine on the board.
Another new rear wing!
This new design appears to fall between the low and medium downforce fins that the team already has in its fin pool, as can be seen in the comparison below.
