two police commissioners relieved of their posts

Clashes between Pastef activists and those of the “Takku Wallu Senegal” Coalition in Koungheul led to the dismissal of two police commissioners. According to information, the urban commissioner of Koungheul and the central commissioner of Kaffrine were relieved of their posts and transferred for “gross misconduct”.

The two commissioners are accused of not having taken appropriate measures to prevent these scenes of electoral violence.

Thus, the urban commissioner of Koungheul, Ousmane Seydi, was assigned to the central police station of Thiès as deputy to the head of department. While Commissioner Balla Fall, head of the Kaffrine central police station, was transferred to the General Directorate of the National Police at the Ministry of the Interior.

The decision was notified to those concerned. The Koungheul urban police station depends on the Kaffrine central police station.

As a reminder, clashes between Pastef activists and those of the “Takku Wallu Senegal” Coalition took place last Wednesday. Pastef’s supporters tried to clear the way for their leader, but “Takku Wallu” activists opposed, thus triggering a fight between the two camps.

There were many injured including Malick Gackou, leader of the Grand Party and support of Ousmane Sonko, national head of the Pastef Coalition, property destroyed, including numerous motorcycles. It took the intervention of the police to restore calm. The two camps accuse each other and each announce a complaint.
