Offenbach’s mayor Felix Schwenke is happy: Instead of the Dippemess, two clubs are now moving to the Kaiserlei. That’s the background.
Offenbach – The news that the city of Frankfurt is creating new sports fields for SV Sachsenhausen and VfL Germania 1894 at Kaiserlei is welcomed by the city of Offenbach. The background is not entirely altruistic, because with the use of the area west of the Kaiserleipromenade, the city of Frankfurt’s request to relocate the Dippemess from the ice rink to this area is off the table.
As reported, people in Offenbach were surprised by the planned relocation of the folk festival in the immediate vicinity of a high-quality office area and were not very pleased. Mayor Felix Schwenke emphasizes that the city of Offenbach welcomes the sports clubs settling on the site. “This shows that the city of Frankfurt has taken our concerns seriously,” he said when asked by our newspaper.

The property in question is located exclusively in the Frankfurt district, but borders on the Offenbach properties on which the city would like to locate financially strong companies. “A fairground in the neighborhood would have been counterproductive,” says Schwenke, “but we very much welcome sporting and social use by two venerable traditional clubs.”
The clubs have to be relocated because Deutsche Bahn needs their places for upcoming bridge construction work. (By Frank Sommer)
