To combat certain pains, including back pain, doctors may recommend physical activity. One of the benefits of swimming is its ability to combat back pain. In fact, this sport gently strengthens the entire body, including the abdominal area and the back. It is often a weakness of the abdominal muscles and the back muscles which can cause pain, hence the importance of strengthening your back. Practiced in water, the body is relieved of its weight, which makes swimming a gentle sport accessible to everyone, regardless of age, weight and physical condition.
