As soon as he resumed in Shanghai, Léon Marchand came close to Ryan Lochte's world record (1'49''63) in the 200m short course medley, with a time of 1'50''30, a world record Europe at stake. Fifteen days later in Singapore, the four-time Olympic champion pulverized the American's time by almost a second, in 1'48''88, to break a record which dated from 2012. At each outing, the French breaks down barriers and that’s just the beginning. This time could go down further at the Short Course World Championships in December.
