Sedaví becomes a car cemetery after the passage of DANA

The passing of the DANA for the Community of Valencia has been devastating, taking out dozens of municipalities such as Paiporta, the town that has recorded the most deaths. Sedaví It is another of the populations that has been terribly affected by the most extreme DANA of this century. How they report Paula Hernandez y Ana Garcia Quesada In the video, Sedaví has left us one of the most striking images of the storm. The streets of the municipality have become a car scrappingwhere thousands of them have been stacked on top of others since the tragedy occurred.

On the morning of October 30, dozens of towns woke up like Sedaví. Hundreds of cars blocked the streets, stacking one on top of the other after being dragged by the riada. Thousands of citizens were surprised on Tuesday afternoon by heavy flooding while they were in their car. Others had left it parked on the street without knowing what was going to happen.

Many accesses are blocked by vehicles

As a result of the mountains of cars, many entrances to garages and homes are completely blocked: “We have a basement with three cars inside, but it is blocked by cars and it is impossible to open it,” a neighbor explains to us. The neighbors work tirelessly voluntarily so that everything gradually returns to normal, removing all the cars they can with minimal resources.

This morning we saw neighbors taking out their tractors and towing cars with their own bodies to be able to unclog the accesses so that the emergency services can enter more easily: “This morning we have already removed 20, but this is crazy, what you have to do here is come aid and people come to tow.”

Neighbors say they are overwhelmed by the lack of supplies

Many citizens are looking for their vehicle in what seems like a scrapyard at this point. The situation has overwhelmed those affected, who lived through terribly distressing moments early Tuesday morning: “The children crying: 'El yayo has diedthe boy is dead,' and thank goodness the party wall of the neighbor's house broke and after a few hours I found out that he was in the neighbor's house.” Those affected say they are completely overwhelmed and helpless: “Agua We practically don't even have electricity anymore, we've been without electricity for two days, it's something huge, here no one comes to report,” says a neighbor indignantly.

They demand help urgent in the face of an increasingly unsustainable situation. The emergency services and the UME work with the population day and night to repair the disaster caused by the deadly DANA.
