Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for season 2 of “Squid Game”, expected on the platform from December 26.
After three years of waiting, the time to dive back into Squid Game hell has finally come. The South Korean series, which shattered all audience records on Netflix in 2021, is finally preparing to make its big comeback, via its season 2 expected on the platform next December.
Season 1 ended with the victory of Seong Gi-Hun (Lee Jung-jae). As he prepares to begin a new life as a rich man in the United States, he finally decides to stay in South Korea to find those responsible for the game and avenge all the victims. Season 2 will therefore pick up where the previous one left off.
Squid Game was originally imagined by director Hwang Dong-hyeok as a feature film. Ultimately, the project saw the light of day in the form of a mini-series but the unexpected success of the program convinced the latter to imagine two additional seasons, respectively planned for next December then during 2025.
Squid Game sees people in debt take part in challenges inspired by childhood games. They discover on site that only one candidate will be able to pocket the jackpot of 45.6 billion won (approximately 32 million euros), while the other participants will be massacred. In this survival game, teamwork will sometimes be essential, but be careful not to trust the wrong person!
In 2022, Squid Game became the first non-English production to win the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series. The program also won the Best Actor award, as well as other prominent awards in the United States. It is therefore not necessary to specify that this season 2 arouses enormous expectations among Netflix subscribers.
Season 2 of Squid Game can be found on December 26 exclusively on Netflix.
