As with every start of the month, changes are expected. Thus, in addition to the start of the “No Tobacco Month” where the start of the winter break, the minimum wage will be increased by 2% this November 1 to follow the rise in inflation, reports The Parisian.
After the time change that occurred last weekend, each start of the month is punctuated by its share of administrative changes. And the month of November is no exception to the rule. First of all, the minimum wage is increased from November 1 by 2% to keep up with inflation and will therefore now amount to 1,801 euros gross per month, or 1,426.30 euros net, reports The Parisian. If the increase in the minimum wage usually occurs on January 1, this new increase was anticipated by the government via a decree published in the Official Journal on October 24, following the declarations of Michel Barnier during his general policy speech to the deputies at the beginning october. Please note, however, that this anticipated increase means that no increase in the minimum wage will take place on January 1st.
Concerning pensions, the supplementary pensions of former private sector employees will also be increased by 1.6%, i.e. below the inflation forecast by INSEE for 2024 (1.8%). This increase will correspond to an increase of 12.80 euros and will bring the supplementary pension to 800 euros monthly.
Gas prices, tobacco-free month and winter break
While winter is fast approaching, November 1st will also be synonymous with the return of snow equipment for cars in several municipalities and mountain departments. The measure, which comes into force in all French mountain ranges, will extend until March 31, 2025. As for the drop in temperatures, this will be accompanied by a slight reduction in the gas bill compared to previous months. The price of gas for hot water and cooking goes from 0.140 euro/kWh to 0.138 euro/kWh and to 0.109 euro/kWh for heating (compared to 0.111 euro/kWh in October), notes the Gas Regulatory Commission. energy (CRE).
The arrival of November also marks the start of the winter break. From now on, and until March 31, rental evictions are no longer possible, even in the event of unpaid bills. Exceptions are, however, provided for when tenants benefit from rehousing or if the accommodation is squatted. Finally, after “pink October” the month of November marks the return of “No Tobacco Month”. The public health operation aims to encourage smokers not to smoke for 30 days, which would increase their chances of quitting smoking for good by five.
