Anthony Edwards joins Stephen Curry in exclusive NBA club against Mavericks

Anthony Edwards is looking to push the Minnesota Timberwolves to three consecutive victories with a win on Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks.

His efforts were noticed early on in the clash, with a 24-point opening quarter. He recorded roughly 70% of the Wolves’ first quarter points, knocking down 6 of his 8 three-point attempts. Not only did Edwards’ explosive quarter put Minnesota in front, but he also broke two personal records and join an exclusive club along the way.

He became just the second player in NBA history after Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry in 2018 to record five or more made three-pointers in four straight games to start a season.

Edwards previously scored a career-high 22 points in a quarter against the Houston Rockets last season, which was surpassed by Tuesday’s performance. His six three-pointers made also surpassed his best of five, which happened on six occasions.

The 23-year-old phenomenon fell short to the Mavs in last year’s Western Conference Finals, meaning there could be some added motivation for tonight’s contest. Edwards is one of the NBA’s fiercest competitors, even in the preseason, which has no serious implications.

He also has no problems with speaking his mind, meaning fans should expect quite the quote following the game. For example, New York Knicks fans made an attempt to recruit Edwards and reunite him with former teammate Karl-Anthony Towns in his latest appearance in Madison Square Garden.

Edwards responded to the fans, saying, “If I play bad, y’all are going to be like, ‘Booo!'”

The Mavericks stormed back into the game in the second quarter, holding a two-point lead at halftime while the Wolves put up 25 points. Edwards went scoreless.
