Pro star was set to marry fiancée one year before tragic death

Late Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Holden Trent was set to wed his fiancée Brianna Losito in 419 days before his sudden passing.

The star and Losito were planning to say their big “I Do’s” on Dec. 20, 2025, according to an official wedding website. The wedding was scheduled at the William Aiken House in Charleston, South Carolina.

But then, on Saturday, Trent died suddenly at 25.

“We want to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Holden passed away this afternoon surrounded by his family and friends,” a statement shared via Trent’s Instagram page read. “Details on services and celebration of life are forthcoming. Our family is deeply touched to see and experience the love you all have for Holden.”

Trent is survived by Losito and his family. The couple began dating in 2019 and were engaged three years later.

Back in Dec. 2023, Losito shared pictures of Trent’s proposal in Florence, Italy, on her Instagram page, US Weekly said, and captioned the post, “Siri, what’s yes in Italian?”

Losito has yet to publicly address her fiancé’s death. Trent’s Philadelphia Union team, on the other hand, released a lengthy statement in memory of the athlete.

“The Philadelphia Union is devastated by the heartbreaking passing of Holden Trent. While he was a wonderful player and fierce competitor, he was more importantly a devoted son, brother, fiancé, and teammate who made those around him better,” the statement shared via the team website read. “He embodied the true meaning of determination, dedication and perseverance, and he will be deeply missed.”

“We extend our greatest sympathies to his family, his fiancée and his friends. Out of respect to Holden’s friends and family, there will be no further statements at this time and ask that their privacy is respected as they grieve,” he concluded.

The Union had selected Trent, a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, as No. 28 overall in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft out of High Point University. He passed away before he could make his first team debut and had previously registered six appearances for their second team in MLS Next Pro, ESPN reported.

MLS representatives also expressed their condolences.

“Major League Soccer joins the Philadelphia Union and our entire soccer community in mourning the tragic passing of Union goalkeeper Holden Trent,” read a post shared on the league’s Instagram page. “A young goalkeeper with a bright future, Trent showcased determination and professionalism every day as he contributed to the close-knit goalkeeping unit at Philadelphia.”

“We extend our deepest condolences to his fiancée, his family and friends, his teammates and the entire Philadelphia Union community. MLS is coordinating with the club to provide players and family members with the resources and support they need during this tragic time,” the statement continued.

Even though a cause of death has yet to be shared, Delaware County’s “Daily Times” newspaper recently reported that Trent was hospitalized in intensive care for a medical issue that hasn’t been made public.

It’s not yet known if the issue led to his death.
