Madrid
Madrid footballer Rodri Hernández won his first Ballon d’Or as a professional this Monday. Although the bets gave Vinicius Jr. as the clear winner of the award, as he has been decisive in winning La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, he has finished in second position to the surprise of many. A decision that has provoked the anger of Real Madrid, who have even decided to be absent from the gala just a few hours before its celebration, understanding that it is an injustice that the award has gone to another player other than the Brazilian forward.

A decision that has also bothered several fans of the white club, who understand that the Brazilian forward has done more merit than Rodri Hernández to win the award. While Vinicius Junior has won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid, the Manchester City midfielder has won the Premier League with his team and has been the best player in a European Championship in which the Spanish team has won. the title of champion for the fourth time.
“Rodri is one of us”
Several hours after the gala, Juanfran Torres stopped by the microphones of The Stringer to assess the recognition of Rodri Hernández: “I am very happy for him.” However, the former footballer for teams like Atlético de Madrid does not fully understand that some Spaniards have criticized his victory simply because he does not play for Real Madrid: “I have received a message that other players deserve it… “But if Rodri is one of us! Why do some people say that someone else had to win it?”
Juanfran Torres remembers that Rodri is the fair winner of the Ballon d’Or for his good work with both Manchester City and the Spanish team: “He has a lot of merit for everything he has done with the national team. He has led a team for which Few people bet at the beginning and it has ended up being the best of all.” For all this, the footballer considers that he deserved the award just like other players like Vini or Carvajal: “To me it seems very deserved and it is very clear that Vinicius and Carvajal could have also won it but, if I had been able to vote, I would have made for him because of the type of player he is and the person he is.
“It seems like he doesn’t deserve it.”
Mainly because he represents Spanish football better than anyone: “He has done very well and has given a very good example. He is a great example for this generation and for all those that come in Spain. He is an example for Spanish football and also takes away from us that thorn that we had with Andrés”.
Finally, Juanfran Torres wanted to leave a message to all those people who have criticized Rodri Hernández’s victory simply because he is not from Real Madrid: “It seems that if we played Spain-Brazil, people want Brazil to win because of Vini… “This is so that all Spaniards, regardless of the colors of their shirt, are happy for Rodri. Rodri is one of us, we have to be 200%, it seems like he doesn’t deserve it.”
