AVS vs Porto prediction, odds & betting tips 28/10/2024

Porto will take on AVS on Monday, 28 October in the final Primeira Liga match of the weekend.

The visitors will more than likely go into the match trailing Sporting Lisbon by six points so will need to ensure they come away with all three points to keep the pressure ramped up on the champions.

AVS, meanwhile, need the points to keep a safe distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

As part of our latest round of Primeira Liga betting tips, check out our AVS vs Porto prediction below.

AVS vs Porto prediction: The visitors to run riot

Key stats

  • Porto have won by two goals or more on seven occasions already this season.
  • AVS lost by three goals in their only other match against one of the big three this season.
  • Seven of Porto’s last eight matches have produced more than two goals.

Correct score prediction: AVS 0-3 Porto

Porto made light work of Hoffenheim in the Europa League on Thursday night and the Dutch side are superior to AVS so this match could feel even easier for the Dragons. The hosts have been struggling in front of goal of late and have blanked in two of their last three league games. Can they find some goalscoring form against Porto? We don’t think so.

Pre-game odds and win probability: The visitors go in as big favourites

  • HOME: 17/2 (9.50) – 10.5%
  • DRAW: 17/4 (5.25) – 19%
  • AWAY: 3/10 (1.30) – 76.9%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

Porto are well accustomed to being favourites for matches in Portugal so their price of 3/10 for this one won’t face them. Ladbrokes have given AVS just a 10.5% chance of coming away from the match with three points and that seems a fair estimation given that they haven’t won a league match since the middle of September.

Most recent H2Hs: A first-ever meeting

AVS were only officially founded 18 months ago following UD Vilafranquense SAD being split in two which means this version of the club has never faced Porto before.

AVS preview: Performing well in their debut top-flight campaign

There is a lot of controversy surrounding AVS in Portugal but nobody can deny that they are performing well in their first season in the Primeira Liga. They come into this weekend four points clear of the drop zone and a big reason for that is their home form. As a result, they will fancy their chance of giving Porto a tough game on Monday night.

Porto preview: Hunting down Sporting

Porto have won every league match they’ve played this season bar their 2-0 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the nation’s capital at the end of August. They have kept pace with the champions since that defeat but they will have to be patient to strike given how well Sporting are currently playing. All the Dragons can do is keep on winning matches themselves.

Player to watch: Samu Omorodion

Samu Omorodion is showing why Chelsea were so keen to sign him in the summer with the Spain under-21 international lighting up the Primeira Liga in the early weeks of the season. The former Atletico striker has scored eight goals in eight appearances for his new club and has more than filled the void left behind by Evanilson.
