Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards breaks NBA record against Raptors

The Minnesota Timberwolves are en route to claim their second win of the season on Saturday evening against the Toronto Raptors.

Meanwhile, their franchise cornerstone, Anthony Edwards, accomplished something of his own. He became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 800 career three-pointers at 23 years, 82 days old. The superstar also tied the greatest shooter of all-time, Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, for the fifth fastest in history. He hit the milestone in 305 games, as did Curry.

Edwards is dominating just two games into the regular season, averaging 29.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 40.8% from the field and 35.7% from the three-point range. Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, who are the newest additions to Minnesota’s roster, are also thriving to start the year.

Randle recorded a dominant 33 points in a thrilling two-point victory over the Sacramento Kings while DiVincenzo is recording consistent numbers through three contests. He is viewed as the key reason the Wolves’ front office was willing to part ways with Karl-Anthony Towns, meaning an increase in performance is hoped for.

Many questioned how the Wolves record-breaker and Randle would mesh, but it’s already abundantly clear.

“We told him this morning, don’t fit around us, we gon’ fit around you, and he showed us today,” Edwards said of Randle after Thursday’s win. “I feel like with Julius being himself, we gon’ be trouble.”
