The IDF confirmed overnight Saturday that it had launched an operation against Iran, targeting specific military targets across the country. The military authorities indicate that they are constantly monitoring developments in the situation, but specify that at this stage, the instructions from the Home Front Command remain unchanged.
The operation is supervised from the Kirya bunker (military headquarters) by the country's highest officials: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and Commander of the Air Force Tomer Bar.
The security cabinet gave the green light to the operation by telephone consultation. An American source also confirmed that Washington had been informed of the attack before it was launched.
More than a hundred Israeli Air Force planes participated in this operation. In Tehran, five explosions were reported, while Iranian media reported the presence of American and Israeli planes in the airspace of Jordan, Iraq and Syria. According to the New York Times, explosions were also heard in the cities of Isfahan and Mashhad, as well as in the province of Kurdistan
