High tides: the maritime prefecture calls for caution this Sunday

Be careful on the Opal Coast today. On this first weekend of All Saints’ Day holidays, it is tempting to observe the spectacle of high tides but this phenomenon can be dangerous. If the tidal coefficients begin to fall, the sea currents remain strong, the sea dangerous and the risk of isolation by the tide significant. The prefecture is also warning about the power of the winds today: force 7 or 8. In , from force 7, the weather conditions are considered serious, in particular for coastal boats.

This is why the Maritime Prefecture is recalling some precautionary measures this Sunday for sailors: “It is recommended to postpone outings to the sea. In all cases, prepare your outings, check your equipment, warn your loved ones, have a means of communication with you.”. Walkers are also warned: “The main cause of isolation by tide remains negligence on the part of walkers but also a lack of knowledge of the local environment. It only takes a few minutes to be surprised by the rising tide and encourage the mobilization of significant resources – air and water.”
