After several confrontations marked by the tensions of the past, Marcelino García Toral and José Bordalás will be the protagonists of the Villarreal-Getafe in which both will definitively bury the hatchet to sign an apparently definitive reconciliation.
The rivalry between the two coaches is well known and goes back a long way. It reached its peak of tension in 2019 during a Copa del Rey clash between Marcelino’s Valencia and Bordalás’ Getafe. A strong exchange of statements the day before ended with different brawls and the denial of greetings in subsequent games.
Six years later, it seems that everything has completely changed and everything points to a definitive end to the quarrels between the two coaches. The tone in the statements has completely changed from that of 2019 and both Bordalás and Marcelino showed their cordiality on the contrary. The Getafe coach said he had “maximum respect” for the Villarreal coach and stated that at the moment there are “zero controversies” with his counterpart in charge.
