exclusive Pastef seeks 500 million to fight the campaign

The Party of African Patriots of Senegal for Work, Ethics and Fraternity (PASTEF) wants to shine in the next legislative elections on November 17, 2024. Ousmane Sonko and his comrades want to take control of the National Assembly. For this, they would need a majority. And to achieve such a result, the patriots are looking for funds to finance their campaign. A new quest is opened by PASTEF in a country described, by the Prime Minister, as a “state in ruins”.

Sonko asks patriots to contribute to his campaign

Since the arrival of Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye at the head of the country, members of Pastef have painted the outgoing regime in its darkest guise. “We found a state in ruins and the Senegalese will know something about it in the days to come. We will tell the Senegalese what is happening. When we have finished taking stock of the situation, which we have almost finished doing, we will tell the Senegalese, transparently: this is what we have hidden from you, this is the situation in the country and all the consequences that will to be drawn from it», declared Ousmane Sonko.

Despite this state in ruins, the Pastef party has resumed its old habits. In view of the legislative elections, Ousmane Sonko announced the launch of a fund to support the electoral campaign for the legislative elections of November 17, 2024. This initiative, for a party in power, has caused a lot of ink to flow. In just a few days, fundraising on the Kopar Express platform has already exceeded 30 million CFA francs. An amount that pushes many to ask questions. Especially when the leader of Pastef asked ministers and directors general to contribute at least one million.

Pastef’s collection exceeds 30 million

However, the Pastef leader declared that the country was in ruins. How in a crumbling state can a ruling party collect more than 30 million in a span of time? How in a country in ruins, will the leader of the ruling party ask ministers and CEOs to contribute at least one million CFA francs? With all the ministers, CEOs and advisors in the new regime, we can easily say that Pastef will exceed 100 million. And yet the patriot-in-chief described Senegal as a state in ruins. It must be said that some people are not affected by this chaotic situation.

Ousmane Sonko also urged party activists and supporters to contribute 1,000 FCFA francs. An initiative that he presents as a call for citizen solidarity. A controversial request. For the ruling party, the leader of Pastef is not going about it in the best way. Asking the Senegalese for 1000 FCFA is a real lack of respect. The majority of people who carried out the PROJECT can no longer make ends meet. For six (6) months, money has stopped flowing, according to some Senegalese people. Times have become tough under the new regime. This is the moment chosen by Pastef to look for money for its campaign.

The Senegalese have contributed enough to the Pastef party. Thanks to their contribution, President Ousmane Sonko (PROS) and his party came to power. For the legislative elections, many do not plan to pay. If some refuse to finance a party in power, others do not have the means to contribute. A situation that the ruling party has not taken into account. But Ousmane Sonko and his comrades will be able to count on their ministers and CEOs to generate millions. Hence the need to keep an eye on all this financial windfall.

In a state in ruins, a prime minister does not appoint ministers and CEOs to publicly impose a contribution to finance a political party. And this in a context where Senegal has suffered enormous financial crimes orchestrated, according to the new regime, by Macky Sall and his men. So this request from Ousmane Sonko could push his ministers and CEOs to do worse than the outgoing regime. And as things currently stand, there are Senegalese people who deserve these millions more than a political party.
