despite the decline, no reopening of major roads before at least 5 p.m.

The closure of traffic lanes on the Rhône in caused intense traffic disruptions this morning throughout the city. Despite the decline which is beginning to be observed, the RD225 which runs along the Rhône between Saint-Lazare and the Pont de l’Europe, the Allées de l’Oulle and the Daladier Bridge remain closed to traffic until at least 5 p.m. this Friday October 18. “There is no temporal visibility”according to the City. Some forecasts suggest that the very slow decline could continue over part of the weekend.

The receding waters, however, allow us to gradually move towards a return to normal. The cofferdams which blocked the posterns of the city center ramparts are gradually dismantled before cleaning the road. From 3 p.m., access to the Palais des Papes car park will be open again. We will have to wait until the end of the day for the reopening of the high road along the Remparts, the Daladier and Kingdom bridges and the access ramp to Avignon of the RD 225 (route du Docteur Pons) in both directions .

Traffic disrupted in Lamotte-du-Rhône and Lapalud

In Lamotte-du-Rhône, Lapalud and Mondragon, municipalities heavily impacted by floods, the situation remains the same. Despite a significant change in the recession, the D63A roads between Lamotte and Lapalud and the D44 between Mondragon and Pont-Saint-Esprit are still flooded and therefore remain closed to traffic. These roads should remain inaccessible at least throughout the afternoon. However, the main road between Lamotte and Pont-Saint-Esprit has been reopened since 11 a.m.
