A week after Storm Kirk, the equivalent of two weeks of rain fell in just one hour last night in Ile de France, according to the Météo express website.

In , streets found themselves temporarily flooded, particularly around Montparnasse station. Météo France specifies, however, that last night’s rainy episode was unprecedented.measure with last week’s rains linked to the Kirk depression.

But the soils were already waterlogged, which could explain, although without certainty, the fall of a tree in the 19th arrondissement, around 7 p.m. last night, which caused the death of a father and injured her two daughters aged 3 and 5. They were treated as a real emergency.

At this time, they would be the only victims of last night’s bad weather. No other serious injuries or disappearances have been reported. There was no evacuation either.

The heavy rains caused some rivers and streams to overflow, particularly in Yvelines. Montabé, Redon and Yvette cut roads and flooded parking lots. In Saint-Rémy-Lès-Chevreuse the mayor called on residents yesterday evening to be safe, according to our colleagues from France Bleu Paris. The courtyard of the Jean Jaurès school was still flooded this Friday morning.

In Essonne, firefighters made around a hundred interventions during the night, mainly to pump water from flooded cellars. Still according to our colleagues, a taken bus found itself trapped by water in Leuville-sur-Orge with around ten children and accompanying persons on board, who all returned home safely in the evening.

This morning, the orange vigilance was therefore lifted for all the departments of Ile de France. But watercourses and soils are now saturated, the rise in water levels could continue during a future rainy episode.
