The alert was given for the day of October 17, but given the mild weather of the day, the inhabitants thought they would survive the flood. This was not the case, from 5 p.m., downpours fell on the area, causing impressive images of cars driving in the middle of streets transformed into a river.
We no longer count the floods and the firefighters’ trips. Water invaded the streets of Nogent-sur-Oise and Creil, practically no neighborhood was spared when the torrential rains fell from 5 p.m. / 5:30 p.m. this Thursday, October 17.
At first, motorists were patient, thinking that traffic would quickly improve. It didn’t happen. Stormwater networks were quickly clogged and water began to rise in city streets. Panic began to spread when the liquid reached the rocker panels and then the height of the doors.
Trains were forced to stop because the tracks were partially submerged.
We had to wait almost 20 hours for traffic to resume at reduced speed. The water eventually drained away, leaving behind a lot of damage, primarily flooded cellars and soaked vehicles.
