Allegation of animal cruelty: Production company defends Rosin

An episode of the Sat.1 show “Who cooks the best for the guests?” that was broadcast in August. There is currently still an aftermath for Frank Rosin. The Animal Welfare Association had reported the chef for animal cruelty and accused him of the fact that the crayfish used there were initially not stored properly and were then prepared incorrectly.

Killing for the purpose of consumption is generally permitted, but only if a “proportionate killing method” is used. However, killing crustaceans by frying them is lengthy, painful and therefore expressly prohibited by law. However, it was clearly visible in the broadcast that at least one of the animals was still alive when Rosin stirred the animals with the wooden spoon. The Animal Welfare Association also criticized the “obviously improper storage” in a glass bowl without water.

Now the production company Endemol Shine Germany has commented on the allegations and emphasized that they are taking them extremely seriously. People are aware of their shared responsibility, but above all they present a service provider as the main person responsible. The statement says: “For complex productions, we rely on experts who advise us on technical issues. In this production, the specialists from Goldencrew were commissioned to be fully responsible for the preparation and storage of the food for cooking production.”

Jan Nöre, owner of the Goldencrew company, says: “We at Goldencrew are the food suppliers and consultants for the show ‘Who cooks the best for the guests?’. Our responsibility was to purchase and properly store the crayfish for them Production. We may not have fully met this responsibility. It is therefore incorrect that Mr. Frank Rosin was not responsible for this situation.” Frank Rosin himself did not comment.
