In its press release, the prefecture expects significant storms with between 10 and 20 mm of rain per hour.

On the Gier side

The peak of the flooding is expected to be reached late this afternoon. Here too, the rains are expected to resume with strong intensity after 6 p.m., with up to 20 mm per hour.

The prefecture cites the municipalities of Rive-de-Gier, Saint-Paul-en-Jarez, Lorette and Chateauneuf among those concerned.

The middle of the night should see the peak of flooding and overflows.

Furan under surveillance

A potential significant increase for Furan is expected late this afternoon.

“If no overflow is observed at the moment, the Furan remains under surveillance,” indicates the Loire prefecture. Its level could experience rapid growth at the end of the day this Thursday, which would raise fears of an overflow at the Center Deux shopping center.

The Loire River

The peak is expected for the flooding of the Loire River at 9 p.m., in the sector downstream of the Grangent dam.
