Model Mayowa Nicholas first walked the Victoria’s Secret runway back in 2018, and she told TODAY.com about how it feels to be returning in 2024.
“I think it’s different, because, honestly, as you can see, the energy of the room is all about celebrating women,” she said while getting her hair and makeup done on Tuesday morning. “I feel like this is the year for women, and it feels good. Everybody’s from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and we’re all just coming together to just make this amazing show. It’s different from the past shows.”
Nicholas shared her reaction to finding out she had been cast in the show again this year.
“I found out in like March or April, and I remember my agent was the one that told me. I was with my mom, and we were just holding hands, just screaming, like, ‘You’re gonna be at the show!'” she recalled. “That was just such an exciting moment, and I mean, for my country as well. I’m from Nigeria, and they’re all gonna be watching, even if it’s gonna be so late, they’re all staying up to watch me. So it’s amazing.”
Nicholas shared her favorite memory from the fashion show in 2018.
“That was the first time I met Adriana (Lima), so that was like, oh my goodness, I’ve always watched the old Victoria’s Secret shows and seen her in person… So that was amazing, definitely.
“First of all, I’m excited about walking with wings. This is my first time walking with wings, so I’m so excited,” Nicholas said. “I’m excited to see Tyra (Banks) because, oh my goodness, it’s like, nobody has seen her — this is a comeback! So I’m so excited to see her, I’m excited for everything, honestly.”
As for her outfit, Nicholas shared as many details as she could.
“My outfit is very, like, rock star. I have a bodysuit with Swarovski embellishment, so it’s gonna be a lot of diamonds and black — like a black diamond, literally.”
