This is the other drama of the descent into hell of the Girondins de Bordeaux. Nearly a hundred people are preparing to lose their jobs at the Château du Haillan in the coming days through a vast social plan. The latter was validated last week by the Bordeaux Commercial Court as part of the legal recovery process in which the club has been engaged for three months. This PSE (job protection plan) had become inevitable after the demotion of the Marine et Blanc to the amateur level, in National 2, the fourth division of French football.
According to information from France Bleu Gironde, 97this is the number of employees who must lose their jobs at the Girondins de Bordeaux from November 6. Most received notice of their dismissal this week and again without a word from management.

So even though there had been no hope for weeks, it remains a huge shock. She also calls “to the social responsibility of Gérard Lopez (the owner and president of the Girondins de Bordeaux) and the current management, because they have a moral and legal responsibility, this PES must be carried out in a fair and transparent manner”. “The compensation must be up to par, because we are not there just to thank people, but also to give them perspective and help them bounce back after this ordeal. I am counting on the Bordeaux Commercial Court to monitor all that”, adds the MP elected under the label of the New Popular Front last July.
A new organization chart with 10 or 11 people in the offices
As a reminder, there were still nearly 200 employees excluding athletes a few years ago. They will now only be a handful. Just enough to make a football team, 10 or 11 people. The boss of the daily will replace Thomas Jacquemier, the current general director of the club. His recruitment is still underway. He will be able to rely on some history and the two vice-presidents Arnaud de Carli and Guy Cotret. According to our information, the new organization chart will therefore be made up of a general manager, a financial director, an administrative director, a marketing/ticketing/communication manager with three people under his responsibility, a stadium manager, a security manager, an events manager and a steward.
This social plan should cost between 6 and 7 million euros. Initially, it will be taken care of by the AGS, the salary guarantee scheme, before falling back into the club’s debts at the end of the legal recovery procedure if the Girondins de Bordeaux have not been liquidated between two.
The Château du Haillan, what use is it?
With the implementation of this vast social plan, the question of the usefulness of the Château du Haillan necessarily arises a little, even if until now its rent remains very low. The Bordeaux town hall (owner) does not seem to plan to increase it with the collapse of the club, however, it has requested an inventory of the situation from the Girondins de Bordeaux. What do they want to exploit? On the castle part, the Bordeaux management intends to maintain the club’s head office and its offices there. The rest of the places are likely to be used a little more with seminars while the restaurant is permanently closed.
For the land, the reflection is underway. You should know that the maintenance of the two main grounds costs 240,000 euros and most of the annexes 30,000 euros. Finally, for the moment, the premises of the training center retain a certain usefulness for new players while waiting for them to find accommodation in Bordeaux and its surroundings. This Haillan file will be one of the first to manage for the new general manager.
