Four things to know about Paul, the candidate for Star Ac

“My artistic universe is very provocative,” explains Paul in his presentation portrait. When I’m on stage, it’s very lively. » In this he follows in the tradition of the great singers he admires: Elton John, David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, of the group Queen.

Paul even had “Rocketman”, Sir Elton’s nickname, tattooed on his forearm, and “I’m still standing”, another of his songs, on his heart.

It is therefore no coincidence that he covered one of his hits, “Your Song”, during the first Star Ac bonus, Saturday October 12. And if we translate the beginning of the song, it corresponds perfectly: “It’s quite funny, this inner feeling, I’m not one of those who can easily hide”.

Paul also displays this exuberant personality in his outfits: “My look is very glittery, feathered, colorful and very vintage. I want to dress like that, because I feel different. I don’t want to condition myself to something that I don’t like. »

  • 2 Seen in “Objective Top Chef”

Before taking the stage, the young resident stood out behind the stove. He completed a professional cooking baccalaureate, then a BTS management in hotel and catering. In 2019, he even participated in the show “Objective Top Chef”, hosted by Philippe Etchebest.

On his Instagram account, we also find a photo where Damien poses with the famous chef. At his side is also his mother, Gwénaëlle Fusté, who has the distinction of having been Best Worker in in the hotel housekeeper category. Before returning to live in Vannes, she worked in Parisian palaces, such as the Ritz or the Prince of Wales.

But the confinements gave the young chef the desire for a change of scenery: “After covid, I completely reoriented myself,” he remembers. I no longer felt in agreement with myself. I needed something else, to identify with what I really was deep down. I was in environments where I was restricted a lot, I needed glitter, feathers, color, explosion! »

  • 3 Three years at Cours Charmey

The young man joined the Cours Chamey in 2021, a three-year training course to become an actor. He finished this course last June.

It was Angélique Charmey who launched this school in 2016, near Vannes town hall, before moving it to the Kermelin area, in Saint-Avé, last April. She is full of praise for her former student: «He is someone who is generous, cheerful, sociable and kind to others. Everyone loves it here! »

The young man asserted himself during his training: “In three years, he has evolved a lot and built his artistic universe. In the final year, each student sets up a project. He produced a cabaret whose title was “Politically incorrect”. It was funny, provocative, joyful and colorful, just like him! And all the students willingly followed him in this project. »

Today, they are also closely following his new adventure at the Star Ac castle: “We watched the first prime together, Saturday evening,” confides his former teacher. I was happy that he dared! I find that courageous of him. »

  • 4 In residence at BREF

On the music side, Paul was hosted in residence for more than six months at BREF, left bank, until he left for Star Ac: “The day before his departure, we did a cabaret where he performed, says Lionel Melka, the artistic director of BREF. We all thought it was a great opportunity for him! »

During this residency at BREF, Paul was able to work on his own songs in the studio, as a songwriter, and his stage show… Enough to refine a lovely set that he presented during the Fête de la Musique on June 21, on the stage installed on the esplanade of the port of Vannes.

“He is someone who has the light within him,” continues Lionel. It’s still only the beginnings of his life as an artist, but he already has a good foundation… And above all, he’s a very beautiful person! »
