Sandrine Bonnaire: the actress explains why Hugh Grant was “very disappointed” when he met her (ZAPTV)

Soon on stage in The English Lovera text by Marguerite Duras adapted by Jacques Osinski, Sandrine Bonnaire came to talk about this play on the set of Telematin this Wednesday, October 16. The actress took the opportunity to tell a funny anecdote about Hugh Grant, a very fan of hers.

“Inspired by an authentic news item, The English Lover revolves around the inscrutable personality of Claire Lannes, a seemingly ordinary woman who committed the unthinkable: murder of Marie-Thérèse Bousquet, her deaf and mute cousin. What motivations lie behind this appalling act? Through an interrogation in two acts, unsaid, silences and ambiguities punctuate this psychological thriller. Served by a trio of rare talents, Marguerite Duras’ text offers a dizzying immersion into the twists and turns of human madness. This is how this play directed by Jacques Osinski is presented and it will be possible to discover at the Théâtre de l’Atelier from October 19.

Invited this Wednesday October 16 on the set of Telematinon France 2, Sandrine Bonnaire, among other things, explained why she agreed to take part in this project. “The role is quite incredible because there is an investigation, so it is constructed, these are two interrogations […] it is above all a play about madness, about love, it is a woman who had a great disappointment in love and who never got over it […] it echoes the words of women today […] there is this very patriarchal side”she first detailed. In an interview given to our sisters from Version FeminaSandrine Bonnaire confided in the fact that she did not know Marguerite Duras’ text at all. “I had not read the novel. However, I discovered a few passages when I was offered the show: they shed light on certain behaviors of my character. (…) Dispossessed of everything, including her home, This woman I play ended up losing her temper.”she indicated.
