: a cyclist dies crushed by a motorist following a road dispute

Around 5:45 p.m., a 27-year-old cyclist was run over by a motorist following a road dispute, as revealed by Actu17. The events took place at the start of Boulevard Malesherbes, a stone’s throw from Place de la Madeleine. According to witnesses, the two men had an altercation.

It was when they got back on the road, each on their own, that the 48-year-old driver of the vehicle allegedly hit the young man and drove over him. The cyclist suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest. Emergency services intervened quickly but were unable to resuscitate him. In the motorist’s car, an SUV, was his daughter, a teenager.

The man was arrested on site and taken to the police station in the 8th arrondissement of , accompanied by his daughter, to be placed in police custody. This Tuesday evening, Mayor Jeanne d’Hauteserre went to the scene of the tragedy. “The witnesses were sitting on the sidewalk, shocked… It was so violent,” breathes the elected official.

The scene took place during rush hour, when hundreds of cyclists and motorists use this route to return home. Yoann, also a volunteer firefighter, was one of the first people to intervene to try to help the young man. “It was a bloodbath. We did a cardiac massage to try to resuscitate him. The firefighters took over quickly, but there was nothing they could do. » On site, a major system was deployed, he says.

In 2019, the driver of a tourist bus ran over a motorist after a traffic dispute. Following a collision, the driver of the car, furious, went to meet the bus driver who then saw red. The two men came to blows, before the bus driver got back behind the wheel of his vehicle and swerved. The motorist had been crushed against another bus which was arriving in the next lane. The events took place on the quays of the left bank, in front of a crowd of horrified witnesses.
