A song for Paul Watson

Finally ! After a few beginnings, the circle of artists taking a stand for the release of the defender of whales, Paul Watson, is growing. This through a song initiated by Cali and Florent Pagny, bringing together personalities. Captain Paul Watson, 73, founder of the NGO Sea Shepherd, has been incarcerated since July 21. His crime? Having opposed a whaler hunting large cetaceans a few years ago, a protected species since 1986. He risks extradition to Japan and 15 years in prison. The judge has repeatedly refused to view filmed evidence of Paul Watson’s innocence, which would completely exonerate him of the charges against him. This would have resulted in immediate release and would even justify reparation. But no, the “justice” toughens his conditions of detention: drastic restriction of communications with the outside world, ban on using the computer equipment made available, attempted ban on the supply of personal medication for his chronic pathologies. Even common criminals are treated better… This is not happening in North Korea or Turkmenistan but in Greenland, a constituent country of Denmark and therefore a member of the European Union. This would almost seem like a bad joke if it were not so dramatic and worrying for whistleblowers and defenders of the living.
