Ardèche, and Alpes-Maritimes placed on orange alert for “rain-flood” and “thunderstorms”, five departments in the South-East on alert

Three new departments on alert. Ardèche, and the Alpes-Maritimes join Lozère and Ardèche in orange “rain-flood” and “thunderstorms” alert, Météo-France announces in its 6 a.m. bulletin, Wednesday October 16. The last two departments had already been placed at this level of vigilance on Tuesday afternoon for an autumnal episode in the Cévennes. Ardèche is only concerned by “rain-flood” vigilance.

Widespread accumulations of “200 to 300 mm” are expected on the Cévennes relief, with “tips at 350mm see more”warns Météo-France. Regarding the two PACA departments, Météo-France mentions a “intense rain-storm episode”. “In the Var and the Alpes-Maritimes, during the day, storms that are sometimes not very mobile can produce 80 to 120 millimeters in a few hours”concludes the public establishment. According to its latest update, both vigilances run until at least midnight.
