League of Nations: thanks to a double from Kolo Muani, wins in Belgium

Thanks to a double from Randal Kolo Muani, the French team (again) beat Belgium this Monday evening in Brussels (2-1). Didier Deschamps’ men remain second in their group in the Nations League, Italy having easily dominated Israel (4-1).

Without its usual captain Kylian Mbappé, nor even without his replacement Aurélien Tchouaméni, excluded a quarter of an hour from the end this Monday, signed a second success in four days, in Brussels (2-1).

Timid winners over Israel last Thursday (4-1), the Blues still had some difficulties against the Belgians, but that did not prevent them from winning a third match in a row in the Nations League. Parisian Randal Kolo Muani, struggling with his club, scored twice, first from the penalty spot in the first half, then with a header after a good serve from Lucas Digne, just after the hour mark.

“Football is the cake that was taken out of my mouth,” regrets Paul Pogba

Shaken during the first act, Didier Deschamps’ men were also helped by Belgian captain Youri Tielemans, who sent his penalty over (23rd). After the expulsion of Aurélien Tchouaméni in the 76th minute, following a second yellow card, France was also able to count on a decisive Mike Maignan in stoppage time, to preserve the essentials. And thus sign a third victory against Belgium in 2024, after those of July (1-0 at the Euro) and September (2-0 in the League of Nations).

At the same time, Italy beat Israel 4-1. France therefore remains second in its group, one point behind the Transalpines.
