Elections 2024 in Engis: the results of the municipal and provincial elections in Belgium will be available on this page live!

Our Municipal Elections series | 2024 Since it will no longer be him, who will succeed Serge Manzato? (video)

The issues at Engis

Whether we like him or not, whether we share his opinions or not, we cannot in any case blame Serge Manzato for not having invested in Engis since 2000. And a figure like that, with knowledge of such terrain, such banter and such a network, it’s not going to be easy to find…

“Her” list, the historic socialist, will this time be led by Dominique Brugmans (but the campaign highlights the complementary experience/youth duo that she forms with Jordan Crets). This is the first time that a woman will be at the head of the socialist list. President of the CPAS from 2000 to 2012, the former teacher has since been an alderman (for Education, Early Childhood, Out-of-School Care, Culture and Tourism).

With a (sacred) character who therefore disappears, a woman at the top of the socialist list and, opposite, on one of the lists, the current 1st alderman, second best municipal score in 2018, is there the fear that a part of socialist voters follow Marc Voué to the detriment of the Engis Solidaire list?

Opposite there will be three lists. Cohesion, led by the 1st alderman, Marc Voué, who took a step aside and who has since been completely… disavowed by the majority (and was subsequently excluded from the PS). But who is determined to rally “the socialists disappointed with the management we know”.

There is also Marc Defraine, MCER municipal councilor now at the head of the Renouveau list, made up of former MCER, 2018 Ecolos and citizens. Who gave pride of place to citizen consultation during the campaign and who intend, with the combined forces, to count in the next six years.

Finally, at the head of No Pollution, we find Julie Leclercq, independent municipal councilor.
