their inaugural collection titled “Chor Bazar

NIF Global Kothrud once again made headlines at India’s premier fashion event, Lakmé Fashion Week, as two of its most talented students, Chetan Mali and Mahendra Choudhary, unveiled their inaugural collection titled ‘Chor Bazar’. Featured in the prestigious GenNext category, the collection was a vibrant celebration of Mumbai’s famous Chor Bazaar, blending vintage charm with contemporary flair.

The “Chor Bazar” collection stood out at the event, attracting eyeballs with its distinctive blend of retro aesthetics and sustainable fashion practices. Taking inspiration from the bustling market, known for its eclectic mix of antique treasures, the duo infused their clothing with nostalgic elements such as gramophones, vintage pocket watches and traditional jewelry. Their ability to modernize these elements and transform them into fashionable pieces has earned them much praise.

The collection consisted of luxurious handmade pieces in cotton silk and silk fabrics, enhanced with hand-embellished details. In a unique move towards sustainability, Chetan and Mahendra collected unused jewelry from the Chor Bazar itself, which they skillfully repurposed as embellishments for their designs. This thoughtful incorporation of old and discarded materials reflected not only the designers’ creativity, but also their commitment to sustainability, a key trend in today’s fashion industry.

The collection didn’t just mix old and new; it was also a deeply personal tribute to Mumbai’s cultural heritage. Each garment in the “Chor Bazar” collection told a story—one of craftsmanship, nostalgia and innovation. The retro motifs, paired with bold, modern silhouettes, resonated with fashion enthusiasts, who praised the collection for its originality and narrative depth.

Adding an extra touch of glamor to the presentation, actress Fatima Sana Shaikh walked the runway as the star model of the collection. Draped in one of the standout pieces from ‘Chor Bazar’, her presence on the catwalk elevated the presentation, capturing the essence of the collection’s vintage and modern appeal.

The success of the “Chor Bazar” collection is a testament to the quality of education and mentoring offered by NIF Global Kothrud. “We are extremely proud of Chetan and Mahendra’s achievements,” said Mita Agrawal, Director, NIF Global Kothrud. “Their creativity, expertise and dedication truly reflect the innovation we encourage at NIF Global Kothrud. We are delighted to see their efforts come to fruition on such a prestigious platform as Lakmé Fashion Week. »

As NIF Global Kothrud continues to nurture the next generation of fashion designers, the “Chor Bazar” collection serves as a shining example of how creativity, tradition and sustainability can intersect to create something truly remarkable .
