ATP > Nick Kyrgios on Nadal: “Rafa don’t retire, I want to play against you one last time. We had our differences, but you were a hell of a warrior”

If Nick Kyrgios and Rafael Nadal were never the best of friends, their relationship gradually improved over time, particularly when the Australian understood that his provocations and invectives had little impact on the ‘Spanish.

So, after the announcement of the latter’s retirement this Thursday, Nick couldn’t help but ask him for a favor.

“Rafa don’t retire, I want to play against you one last time”wrote the man who definitively launched his career as a professional player by claiming the scalp of Nadal in the round of 16 at Wimbledon in 2014 after a dazzling performance.

Finally aware that this was indeed the end for Rafa, the Wimbledon 2022 finalist ended up paying him a more classic tribute.

“We had our differences, but you were quite a warrior. Best wishes and good luck for the future. »
