The Italian Jannik Sinner, seeded n°1, reached the semi-finals of the Shanghai tournament, clearly beating the Russian Daniil Medvedev, seeded n°5 (6-1, 6-4), Thursday night session at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center in Shanghai.
Sinner, 1st in the ATP rankings, will face the winner of the upcoming match between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, seeded No. 3, and seed No. 30 Tomas Machac in the semi-finals of the Chinese tournament.
During the previous rounds of the Shanghai Masters 1000, the Italian tennis player had dismissed the Japanese Taro Daniel (6-1, 6-4), the Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, seeded n°31 (6-7 [3]6-4, 6-2), and the American Ben Shelton, seeded n°14 (6-4, 7-6 [1]).
Medvedev, 5th ATP player in the world, won against the Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild (7-5, 7-5), against the Italian Matteo Arnaldi, seeded n°29 (5-7, 6-4 , 6-4), and against the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, seeded n°10 (7-6 [3]6-3).
