Celine Dion will release this evening her version of “L’Hymne à l’amour” by Édith Piaf sung for the Olympics

The singer published on her social networks a brief video of her performance of the famous song during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

A highly anticipated release. Three months after impressing the audience at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games with his resumption of The Hymn to Love by Édith Piaf, Céline Dion will release her version this evening at midnight, she announced in a video published this Wednesday on her X account.

The image of Celine Dion on the Eiffel Tower will remain as one of the highlights of the Paris 2024 Olympics. This performance was her first since announcing she had stiff person syndrome, neurological disease which affects his voice and forced him to put his career on hold and postpone his tour.

The recording of this performance is made available on a symbolic date: this Thursday, October 10, will mark the 61st anniversary of the death of Edith Piaf, who died on October 10, 1963 at the age of 47.

At the end of July, the musical director of the event, Victor Le Masnehad revealed in the columns of West that the singer’s performance was not in playback. “We had planned it, but she actually sang,” he assured.

Gojira and Angèle already available

Several key pieces from the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games have been unveiled in recent weeks. The piece Mea Culpa (Ah! It’ll be fine!)performed by the metal band Gojira with opera singer Marina Viotti during the opening ceremony, has been available for streaming since the end of August.

This track, which lasts 2 min 53, arranged by the musical director of the Olympic Games ceremonies Victor Le Masne, was one of the musical highlights of the event and went around the world. Listening to Gojira also increased by +106% in France and +80% worldwide on Spotify at the end of July.

The version of Nightcall by Kavinsky, Angèle and Phoenix, which the trio performed during the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games on August 11, was made available on September 20. This collaboration also stood out as one of the most memorable moments of the evening.

Victor Le Masne has finally released both versions of the song Paradethe anthem of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which has gone viral since the start of the Olympic events. Two versions are available: a full version of 11 minutes and another of 5 minutes and 40 seconds.

Soon Aznavour by Aya Nakamura?

His other compositions for the four ceremonies will soon be available “in album form”, he promised. We still don’t know if the cover of Zizi Jeanmaire’s My Thing in Feathers by Lady Gaga or if the mashup of For me formidable et Bohemia by Charles Aznavour by Aya Nakamura.

Victor Le Masne, musical director of the ceremonies, confided last month on BFMTV: “We’re trying, and I hope to succeed. (But) for the pieces that I have rearranged for others, I think of what I was able to do for Lady Gaga or Aya Nakamura, we’ll see. There’s a lot of desire, (but) it’s more complicated.”

Aya Nakamura has no plans to release her song at the moment, she confided during a live on TikTok. “A lot of people (…) asked me for the cover. Charles Aznavour, you’re kidding, he’s technical. The way of posing from the 1950s has nothing to do with our way of singing. Go sing that when you’re Aya Nakamura!”
