“A DNA foreign to…”: Emile case (2 and a half years), this trace challenges the investigators who work day and night

The case began on July 8, 2023. A little boy aged 2 and a half named Emile disappeared in Haut-Vernet (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, ). Teams were mobilized for many months, the objective being of course to find the child. However, the investigation was making little progress. But last March, everything changed when a 62-year-old walker, Sadia, discovered bones on a path in the town. And in particular a skull, which she immediately dropped off at the police station. The little boy’s clothes were also found, and the analyzes then allowed investigators to confirm Emile’s death. Because this piece of bone really belonged to the missing child.

But research is still continuing today, as we try to understand whether the body was moved after the death or not, and to define whether the criminal theory is indeed the correct one. To do this, there is currently a lot of work being done by the investigators, based on the conclusions delivered by the forensic hematology laboratory. Among these results, they are now working on a DNA “trace” which must now be cross-checked. Indeed, “a DNA foreign to that of Émile’s family was discovered during these analyzes“, have just revealed our colleagues from BFMTVthis Wednesday October 9, 2024.

Death of Emile, a DNA trace at the heart of the investigations

However, it is impossible to know more, at least for the moment. Because the prosecution does not wish to communicate “on all investigative acts”. Jean-Luc Blachon, public prosecutor of Aix-en-Provence does not want “neither confirm nor deny”while advancing the “compliance with instructions”. However, thanks to BMFTV, we know the next step: “You have to take other people’s DNA and make comparisons.”

This is all the work that the gendarmes of the Research Section (SR) are currently carrying out.“To be continued then, then that a “fifteen investigators have been working day and night for fifteen months to try to explain the disappearance and then the death of the child“.
