After accusations of sexual violence, Isère MP Hugo Prevost resigns

Targeted by several testimonies from women who accuse him of sexist and sexual violencethe deputy for the first constituency of Isère Hugo Prevost announces this Wednesday evening his resignation from his mandate as deputy.

“I want to apologize”

Hugo Prevost explains this Wednesday evening in a press release on his social networks that he wishes “apologize to all those involved in the campaign for the shock they may have experienced in recent hours. I understand the seriousness of the accusations made to me (…) I announce today the resignation of my mandate.” Since the announcement of these accusations, his main supporters have called for this resignation. His deputy Salomé Robin but also the Environmentalists and Socialists who supported his candidacy last July.

As a result of this resignation, legislative elections should take place in the first constituency of Isère. More than 80,000 voters will then be required to elect a new deputy.

Hugo Prevost, elected deputy for the first constituency of Isère last July against Olivier Veran, is accused of sexual violence by several women. The Student Union, a union that he co-founded, collected these testimonies and forwarded them to the La Insoumise party. After being interviewed, Hugo Prevost was excluded from the party.
