Interpol shares new information to try to identify 46 women found dead in Europe

Ln October 8, 2024, Interpol launched its second campaign aimed at the general public to identify 46 women found dead in six European countries. The International Criminal Police Organization, whose headquarters is located in , has communicated specific investigative elements on each case.

A physical feature, a piece of jewelry, a tattoo or even a piece of clothing are the many elements revealed by Interpol in a file entitled IdentifyMe. Through this campaign, Interpol’s objective is to restore an identity to these victims and provide answers to their loved ones. Most of these women died violent deaths.

On its site, the organization has created a file for each victim. Inside, there are several extracts from elements known as “black notices”, normally classified confidential. Each file includes a facial reconstruction and information about where she was found.

Seven women found in

In France, 7 women were selected for the Interpol identification campaign:

– In Lassy in Val-d’Oise, a woman “with unusual teeth” was found in 1994.

– There is a woman found in a vacant lot in Saint-Denis in 2021.

– In Saint-Quirin in , a woman with a Richmond dental crown was discovered in 2005.

– A woman with the “Jean and Nelly” ring was found in 2008 in Villefranche-sur-Mer in the Alpes-Maritimes.

– A pregnant woman with garnet necklaces was discovered in 2001 in the Minore forest in the Côte-d’Or department.

– A woman with tattooed butterflies was found in 2016 in the Seine near Athis-Mons in Essonne.

– The young girl with the 10 pence coin, was discovered in 1982 in Cellier in -Atlantique.

In each country, public figures are involved in relaying the calls. In France, two ambassadors are carrying the campaign: the athlete Marie-José Pérec and the actress and writer Sarah Biasini.
