Death of Lisa Marie Presley: she kept her son’s body in ice and reason breaks the heart

Lisa Marie Presley died of a broken heart. Elvis’ only daughter, she was only 54 years old when she breathed her last in January 2023 after an intestinal obstruction. She joined her son, to whom she had said goodbye a few months earlier. On July 12, 2020 in fact, Benjamin Keough killed himself by shooting himself in the head while his girlfriend was in the same house. Losing her 27-year-old son was the tragedy of Lisa Marie Presley’s life.

And until her death, she was unable to grieve. Proof: a rather grim revelation made in his posthumous memoirs. In From Here to the Great Unknow, she reveals in fact to have kept her son’s body on ice for two months. He was then in a bedroom of his house in Los Angeles. “There is no law in the state of California that requires you to bury someone immediately.”she wrote to justify herself.

Lisa Marie Presley got used to “taking care of him”

To be able to keep her son’s body, she asked a funeral home manager for help. During her two months, she hesitated for a long time about where to bury Benjamin Keough. Hawaii or Graceland? That’s part of why it took so long.she confided.
I got so used to him, taking care of him and keeping him by my side. I think it would scare anyone else to have their son by my side like that. But not to me.” Not to the deceased’s sister either.

According to Riley Keough, he was “really important” for his mother “to have enough time to say goodbye to him, the same way she did with her father” died in 1977 when she was 9 years old. I felt so lucky to have been able to continue caring for him, to delay a little longer the moment to let him rest in peace.” wrote Lisa Marie Presley again. With her daughter, she decided to give back a special tribute to Benjamin.

Where are the mother and her son buried?

In his honor, they decided to get tattoos, as he had done with both of their first names. Before taking action, Lisa Marie Presley invited the tattoo artist into the room where her body was located so that he could observe it closely.
I’ve had an extremely absurd life, but this moment is in the top five.”
says Riley Keough. And it was after this precise day that Elvis Presley’s daughter decided to say goodbye to her son and his body.

“We all felt that my brother didn’t want his body in this house anymore. He seemed to be saying, ‘Guys, this is getting weird.’said Riley Keough. Even my mother said she felt him talking to her and saying: ‘It’s crazy, mom, what are you doing? What the fuck!’” The family then held a funeral ceremony for Benjamin in Malibu. Lisa Marie finally decided to bury him at Graceland, near her grandfather Elvis. This is also where she now rests, with the two men of her life.
