“We are going to appeal”: the wife of Omar Bin Laden, banned from entering , takes his defense

While the eldest son of jihadist Osama Bin Laden, who had settled in , is now banned from entering , his British wife is taking up his defense.

Zania Bin Laden, the wife of Osama Bin Laden’s eldest son, reacted on Tuesday October 8 to the administrative ban on the territory to which her husband is subject by decision of the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau.

Omar Bin Laden settled in Normandy in 2018 before flying to Qatar in 2023, report our colleagues from BFM TV who had Omar’s wife, Zania, testify.

“We are going to appeal, because it is very important to us,” she said. Zania Bin Laden refers to a tweet advocating terrorism published on her husband’s account in May 2023, on the anniversary of the death of Osama Bin Laden. The account has now been suspended and Zania Bin Laden claims not only that the sentence in question was “a quote from Winston Churchill” but also that her husband “never wrote this tweet” and “was never prosecuted by the police.

A criminal investigation must clarify this point, specifies the Orne prefecture in a press release which adds: “It is nonetheless established that this illicit content was well received on his social networks and that he did not withdrawn or condemned.”
