Cold-cases: Interpol launches a global appeal for witnesses to identify the bodies of 46 unknown women – LINFO.re

A first “Identify Me” campaign was organized in 2023. Interpol has once again requested help from the general public to identify the bodies of 46 unknown women, victims of cold cases.

More than 20 files selected this year

Interpol announced this week the launch of a call for witness world baptized “Identify Me” after a successful first campaign last year.
As reported RTLthe organization once again asked for help from the general public to put a name to the bodies of 25 new women, 7 of whom were discovered in between 1982 and 2021. This campaign aims to identify the bodies of 46 unknown women, provide answers to the families, but also to try to identify an author.

Details on the Interpol website

Robot portraits, sometimes reconstructed in 3D, are visible on the websiteInterpol. For ease of identification, these victims have nicknames like “the woman with the butterfly tattoo”, “the pregnant woman with the garnet necklace” or even “the girl with the 10 cent coin”.
The site also displays the victims’ personal effects if investigators found any near the body.

To help identify bodies

Franck Dannerolle, head of the Central Office for the Repression of Violence against Persons (OCRVP), coordinates this campaign for France. According to him, it is very important that people consult the site to possibly identify elements that are known to them. “It can be a tattoo, a piece of jewelry, a piece of clothing, a face. Do not hesitate to also look at foreign files: a disappearance in France may find the answer in a neighboring country“, he explained.
This manager also specified that all the files selected for the 2024 campaign present “important investigative work” from the police and gendarmes.
