The BFMTV news channel finds itself at the heart of a controversy following comments made by European MP Rima Hassan during the BFM Story program on October 8, 2024. The channel’s management reacted by publishing a press release to defend the journalistic integrity of its editorial staff.
The incident took place during Rima Hassan’s intervention on BFMTV. The MEP claimed that the channel had been congratulated by Olivier Rafowicz, spokesperson for the Israeli army, referring to an interview broadcast two days earlier in Benjamin Duhamel’s special broadcast live from Tel Aviv.
Faced with these accusations, the management of BFMTV wanted to reiterate the professionalism of its teams. In his press releasethe channel highlights the deployment of seven teams on the ground in Israel and Lebanon, demonstrating its commitment to covering the conflict in depth.
BFMTV also highlights the broadcast of a document produced by Palestinian journalists in Gaza, broadcast the previous Friday and Sunday. This report, described as exceptional by the channel, was also challenged live by the spokesperson for the Israeli army during the interview mentioned by Rima Hassan.
