UFC 307 – José Aldo loses to Mario Bautista by split decision in a controversial duel

José Aldo faced Mario Bautista to heat up the room before the co-main event of UFC 307 in Salt Lake City. ‘Scarface’ once again showed all his expertise, but in vain.

A whirlwind return. After his victory against Jonathan Martinez, by unanimous decision last May, José Aldo now took on a serious contender for the title, Mario Bautista. On a series of 7 consecutive victories, the latter had the necessary weapons to put the Brazilian in difficulty.

Round 1 : Mario Bautista starts strong. Author of a high volume, the latter delivers numerous kicks, before pinning José Aldo against the cage. The fight ended in a split decision in favor of Mario Bautista, after a controversial performance. Posting a record of 9 victories for only 2 defeats in the UFC, Bautista thus confirms his status as a title contender among the bantamweights. A top 5 in the category could be offered to him.
